What a historic day in the history of this country. My hope is that at some point Republicans decide to participate in this process and moving forward they continue to improve this legislation as necessary. Image

No personal offense to you but give me a break. I am so sick and tired of hearing that kind of talk. You should also be ashamed of a Republican party that has made a mockery of govt and congress and have done serious damage and continue to lie and fear monger and use every tactic they know of to sway public opinion.

If anyone made a mockery of America...it wasn't the republicans. They listened to the people. They kept their oath to defend the constitution, which this bill rips in half, against all enemies foreign and domestic.

No they did not Mrs So . How can you possibly believe that the Republicans listened to the people. They have ripped this country in half over the last decade by their selfish agenda , the Iraq war, deals with big Pharma, unfunded legislation, allegedly illegal activity aka torture and wire tapping, . They have turned this country up side down. This health care process is just another example of how bad they have become. Death panels and govt take over of health care and Socialism and the govt getting in the way of you and your doctor. Etc Etc. The evidence is in plain sight. The comments they have made are all on YouTube to watch and listen to.

Your team just shifted freedom away form citizens and made us all slaves of the state. The chains will be heavy. I don't want my grandson to be burdened with them or to live in a country were freedom does not ring.

I dont either. But no one seems to be able to address the fact that the Republicans can not be trusted in any fashion at this point in our history. They lie , they fear monger, they intentionally do this which is malice. They dis regard the damage they cause then they do not admit it when they get caught. This is just one issue of many that the Republicans have shown what they are made of. I am not a die hard Democrat but when actions are taken by the Republicans like they are doing I will be very quick to point these things out and I will defend my argument with every ounce of my being.

Alan, with all due respect I will hold my applause.
This bill includes billions in new tax increases during a major recession, puts a thumb over the industry as awhole, and will easily become yet another burden on the tax payers of this nation.
I fully acknowledge that we will never have a perfect system no matter the course taken, but I personally would have loved the Democrats to claim just so without attempting to rely on our populaces emotionally based responses and disingenuously paining this as the cure to all of our healthcare ills all while attacking every single aspect of our healthcare system to see what will stick.
We have just handed the keys to our system over to a new boss that works at a snails pace and is never fully held accountable for it's actions.
Not something to celebrate IMO and with the state of medicare, social security, and what transpired within the mortgage industry I believe my worries are founded.

Didn't see this thread til this morning. I was busy typing my 2 cents in the other threads. But to recap, for me, in a nutshell.... Progress not perfection. The current healthcare system is broken and something had to be done to serve the Amercian people. I applaud progress and accept the risks involved as pointed out in sooner's and mrsso's comments. If we keep on doing what we always did we keep on getting what we always got. I agree with alan about the state the republicans have left our country and what their stonewalling and blustering on this bill say about their motive and agenda. Serving the greater good needs to be done, not just the powerful and wealthy. I simply don't get the hype and fear about healthcare by the same people who seemed perfectly content to allow us to wage unjust war, trample our civil liberties and everything else. Alan said all that better than I can. At the risk of offending some friends but feeling the need to be perfectly honest because you ARE friends, .....there is an element of unhealth when people are so consumed by fear of the "what ifs", that they become unreasonable and irrational. That is what I see happening and being flamed by the media and the Boehner's (sp?) of the country.

Deal with "what is" and adjust as we go. Yesterday is over, the future is unknown, today is a gift, and, is all we can work with.

Allow me to preface this by saying that my family does not have health insurance. We own our own business, and the $890. a month that said coverage cost was a little more than we could afford. Now.....I'll wait to applaud until I see this will actually benefit more people than it hurts. I don't know the nuts and bolts...but just the parts I do know are mighty scarey.
